Connecticut Wrongful Death Laws

The Connecticut wrongful death law can be found at Conn. Gen. Stat. § 52-555.  Pursuant to the section, a deceased’s representative has a right to maintain an action for the wrongful death of the deceased against the tort feaser who caused the decedent’s death.  The representative can recover damages for injuries and cost of reasonably necessary medical, hospital and nursing services, and including funeral expenses provided, no action shall be brought to recover such damages and disbursements but within two years from the date of death, and except that no such action may be brought more than five years from the date of the act or omission complained of.
